Healthy Shrimp Gumbo

This is a "healthy" gumbo recipe. The main thing it does is leave out the roux. But, with all the other southern goodness, it is still mighty tasty. Keep with the healthy theme by serving over whole grain brown rice. Read more...

Enchilada Casserole

One of my favorite, all time, most pounds gained recipes. Great served with a salad. Doubling the recipe lets you feed a crowd. Really like the Old El Paso brand of enchilada sauce better than any others that I've tried. Read more...

Green Christmas Wreath Marshmallow Treats

As long as I can remember, these were a tradition at home for Christmas. Similar to Rice Krispie treats except you use corn flakes and shape them into rings. They can then be decorated with red hots or sprinkles. Read more...

The Place of Transformation

Luke 9:28-36
Prayer doesn't need to be boring! Jesus and his disciples went up into mountain to pray and the usual was happening, the disciples fell asleep and Jesus prayed. This night was different however, as Jesus had other company join him. Moses and Elijah dropped by to discuss his decease in Jerusalem.
An amazing transformation happened as the masters clothes became dazzling white and his countenance glowed as it's appearance was altered. Suddenly the disciples awoke to gaze upon this spectacular display of radiant glory. I WONDER HOW IT COMPARED TO THE NIGHT OF HIS BIRTH? Read more...

Christ's Resurrection: Our Signpost To Immortality!

I Corinthians 15:51-58
Faith is a big word in God’s dictionary ! We are asked to accept God and his word by faith! Paul wrote; ‘Faith cometh by hearing, hearing by the word of God.”

South Carolina: A History

Just finished listening to South Carolina: A History by Walter EdSouth Caroline: A Historygar.  In a way, historical books, such as this, are boring and fascinating simultaneously.  The book goes in to great detail on the early history of the Palmetto State and the efforts to carve out a settlement in the American wilderness.  It covers the social, economic and political aspects of the colonization of the new world.

This audiobook was read by the author, which added to the listening experience.  Reading it has helped me gain an appreciation for the people and heritage of South Carolina.

Our Faith

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report. Hebrews 11:1-2

Faith in God is a way of life for Christians and grants them substance for overcoming obstacles of life. The eleventh chapter of Hebrews portrays the various ways faith is demonstrated in Christ. May the subjects posted here be read and become useful to people who need comfort in their walk with God.
Jesus chose imperfect men for disciples. Take note of the stormy circumstances on the Sea of Galilee. Jesus was asleep in the ship while his disciples were fighting a losing battle to save the ship. Read more...

Take Heed To Yourself

Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. Hebrews 2:1
Introduction:
What God has given through his word is important. Every word was given as a help to prepare us for eternity. Therefore we should pay attention to our own person in the matter of salvation. While the worldly person today is looking out for No.1 they don’t have God and eternity in mind, so it is our duty to be sure we live right by God’s purpose. In doing so we will save ourselves and perhaps be, an example that shows others how to save themselves from the coming collision. between good and evil. Read more...
